Ralph Moore, nato a Londra e trasferitosi a New York negli anni ’70 per studiare nel prestigioso Berklee College di Boston, ha suonato e registrato musica con un’incredibile lista di musicisti come Dizzy Gillespie, Horace Silver, Freddie Hubbard, Ray Brown, Roy Haynes, JJ Johnson, Cedar Walton, Bobby Hutcherson, McCoy Tyner, Willie Jones III, Roy Hargrove, Tom Harrell, Todd Coolman, Benny Green, Oscar Peterson, Kenny Barron, Bill Frisell, Lewis Nash, Buster Williams, Kevin Eubanks, Don Menza, Rufus Reid, Billy Drummond, Gary Smulyan, Billy Hart, Billy Higgins, Dave Liebman, Eddie Gomez, Eddie Henderson, Marvin “Smitty” Smith, inoltre Paul McCartney, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, B.B.King, Ray Charles solo per citarne alcuni. E’ stato protagonista per svariati anni nel The Tonight Show di Jay Leno e nel 1992 ha ricevuto il riconoscimento Down Beat come miglior artista internazionale e il Lenny Johnson Memorial Award per l’eccezionale musicalità. Numerose sono le registrazioni a proprio nome, tra le quali spiccano “Images” con Terence Blanchard e “Furthermore” con Benny Green e Roy Hargrove. L’approccio stilistico di Moore è solido, diretto e stimolante ed è fortemente legato alla tradizione in linea con le sonorità di Sonny Rollins e Benny Golson ed al primo Coltrane, con il quale condivide il senso di ricerca nelle complessità dell’armonia.
